North Carolina Governor (D) Calls for “Suspending” Elections

“I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover.  I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.”
   — North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue

I vividly remember quite a few loud and angry voices on the left swearing that President Bush was going to cancel the elections in both 2004 and 2008.  Now a Democrat is actually suggesting it.

Somehow, I doubt this will generate the headlines it would have if a Republican governor (say, Sarah Palin) had said this exact same thing during the Bush Administration.
